Curriculum Organization and Implementation Policy (Curriculum Policy)

<Master's Degree Program>
The master's degree program in the Graduate School of Administrative Studies at the Prefectural University of Kumamoto consists of four courses: Public Management, Business Management, Information Administration and Nursing Administration. This is to provide students with the fundamental concept of various areas of administration and to foster individuals who can meet the needs of their local community by finding and solving problems and issues. To meet this goal, our curriculums are organized in accordance with the following policy.
  1. Special Administration lectures are included in the first semester of the first year; their goal is that students will learn basic theories of administration and, based on the acquired knowledge, will be able to empirically study administration.
  2. The courses "Case Study I and II" are included in the first year to help students acquire the fundamental and basic knowledge needed for their research, in particular methods which will allow students to, in a comprehensive manner, collect course-specific information, solve problems and process and edit the information for presentation.
  3. In the Public Management, Business Management, Information Administration and Nursing Administration Courses, course subjects of greater specialization are included so that students not only meet each course's educational goals but also to help them acquire the necessary specialized information and research methods which will allow them to logically analyze their study subject from academic and comprehensive perspectives.
  4. In response to requests for high-level recurrent education from people in the work force, Saturday classes, day classes and night classes are offered.
<Doctoral Degree Program>
The goal of the Prefectural University of Kumamoto's doctoral degree program in the Graduate School of Administrative Studies is to foster in individuals advanced knowledge and judgment who will then solve various social issues using a multilateral and comprehensive approach. In the establishment of the Graduate School of Administrative Studies, and to meet its goal of cultivating future human resources, the existing field of studies was rearranged so that its courses are now organized under these five areas: Society Area, Public Area, Management Area, Social Norm Area and Information Area.
