概要
In this class, students will learn a range of presentation skills, including presenting using various types of media such as flip charts, Hypermedia, pictures, and videos. There will be a focus throughout on good pronunciation, rhythm, and intonation.
到達目標
Upon completion of the course, students will be able to: (1) create a poster presentation or smaller paper-based presentation to use with an overhead camera; (2) create a presentation using PowerPoint; and (3) collaborate with other students to create a presentation.
履修上の注意
Students are expected to attend class regularly and to do all assignments as they come up. Towards the end of the semester, there will be a longer assignment, and students are expected to work constantly and responsibly towards finishing it. Points will not be granted to those who miss presentation days without a valid reason.

Week 1: Introduction: What is an effective presentation?
Week 2: Physical aspects (eye contact, posture, and gestures)
Week 3: Oral aspects (pitch and stress)
Week 4: Visual aspects 1: Choosing media
Week 5: Visual aspects 2: Processing data
Week 6: Visual aspects 3: Designing visual aids
Week 7: Organizational aspects 1: Presentation formats
Week 8: Organizational aspects 2: Presentation structure
Week 9: Presentation performance
Week 10: Collecting materials and citation
Week 11: Integrated presentation 1: Summarizing text
Week 12: Integrated presentation 2: Preparing handout
Week 13: Developing group presentation script
Week 14: Polishing group presentation script
Week 15: Finalizing group presentation script
Final Exam
(Changes may be made in the schedule according to the number of students and the progress made in each class.)
予習・復習
について
Students are expected to complete all the assignments on time and come to class prepared. It is also important to review each lesson.

Class performance 20%
In-class presentations 50%
Final exam 30%
Class performance includes attendance and participation through the semester and in assignments. Delivering a group presentation will be the final exam.
成績評価基準
Final scores will be based on the quality of class performance and all the assignments through the semester. Consideration will be given to active participation in class, the quality of the four aspects (physical, oral, visual, and organizational) demonstrated in presentations, effort, thorough preparation, and sufficient collaboration.
