概要
The Symbiotic and Environmental Science Graduate School offers Graduate English I and II to its students. The goals of these two courses include preparing students to write articles in English, which are acceptable for submission to academic journals. Graduate English II is designed to help students understand the sections of a journal article and to practice writing a short article in English.
到達目標
The main objective for this course is to prepare students for researching their topics in English. General areas will include appropriate grammar and vocabulary used in academic scientific journals. Students will learn to identify academic journals in their area of research. Students will practice write abstracts and other sections of an article in English in the subject area of their research. Other areas of study include increasing academic and scientific vocabulary levels.
履修上の注意
This course is designed for those who are preparing their research during the course period. Students should be in the of the second year of their Masters program to take this course.

について
Students are expected to come to class ready to study and do their homework each week.
使用教材
There is no textbook for the course. The teacher will make and distribute class materials.
Students will need:
・a folder in which to keep notes & class materials
・a notebook to keep class notes in (any size you like)
参考文献
・A good dictionary is necessary like Kenkyusha’s English-Japanese Dictionary for the General Reader, Kenkyusha (you can also use the materials available online if you wish)
・Please bring a storage device to keep your important files (USB flash drive, etc.)
・If you can get an Internet connection and computer for your home, that can help you with many of your studies here at PUK.
単位認定
の方法
In this class, students must show satisfactory progress during in-class work. They muso also complete and pass all homework assignments in addition to several presentations.
Finally, they receive passing grades on the final evaluation which includes a report or portfolio.
成績評価基準
In order to receive credit for this course, students must show significant improvement in vocabulary, and be able to read abstracts. They must demonstrate marked improvement in their reading skills and also in their presentation skills in English.
