Summary: 兄弟も近所の友だちもいないHenryに両親が与えてくれたペットMudge。
Henryの希望どおり、垂れ耳、直毛、大型犬（来た当初は仔犬だったけれど…）のMudgeとHenryは大の仲良し。どこへ行くにもいつも一緒です。

そんなある日、Mudgeがふと一人で散歩に出掛けます。
最初は自由にあちこちを走り回れて良かったのですが、ふと気付いたら自分がどこにいるのか分かりません。
Henryと一緒に寝るベッドを思い出しながら、ひとり哀しく伏せるMudge。ちょうどその頃、HenryもいなくなったMudgeを思って涙ぐんでいます。

Mudgeを探しに松林に来たHenry。
彼の最後の叫びを聞きつけ駆けつけるMudge。
動物好きな人にはちょっとした感動シーンなんじゃないでしょうか。

言うまでも無いことですが、これ「Mr Puter」シリーズや「The Old Woman Who Named Things」と同じ著者の作品です。上記シリーズ＆絵本と同様、このお話も穏やかな中に心温まる物がありわたしは気に入ってます。

英語もとっても簡単。子供が読んでも良いですが、わたしとしては英語を勉強し始めたばかりの大人にこそ読んでもらいたいです。（この著者の感性は、大人が読んだほうがより深く味わえると思うので…）

Summary: 個人的にはGood in Bedよりも面白いと思いました。
それぞれの悩みを抱えるローズとマギーが自分自身を見つける過程が丁寧に描かれていて、とても共感できます。難読症のために自分自身へのリスペクトを持てず、男性を信用もできなかったマギーが迷い込んだローズの母校で詩と出会い、祖母のエラとの生活から自信を取り戻していく様子をまるで自分でたどっていくかのように読みました。そして最後にローズの結婚式で詩の暗誦する場面には感動。詩の余韻とともに心に残る本です。

Summary: 　自分の多読のために購入しましたが、一度子供に読んだら子供のほうが気に入ったようで、本棚から何度も出してくるようになりました。
　１ページに２・３行なので、あっという間に読めてしまいます。
　初めての英語絵本にいいかも。
