The thing that interests me most now is foreign languages, not only English but also many other languages.
This weekend, a big event will be held in Kumamoto, the fourth World Conference on Women & Sports, and around 500 foreign people will come to Kumamoto from about 100 countries. 100 countries! They probably include some that we've never heard of.
I will take part in this event, serving Japanese sweets and other foods this Friday and Saturday at "Welcome Road", near Shimotori. We will wear yukata, and give paper cranes that we have made ourselves to the visitors. I am really looking forward to it.
I want to talk with a lot of people from various countries. When we go abroad, we feel relieved and happy when we find someone who can speak our native language. There are so many countries and languages in the world. I have learned English for a long time, but I think I need to learn other languages. If I could speak French (or Spanish, Chinese, Korean, etc.), I could make French (or Spanish, Chinese, Korean, etc.) friends. Languages are a good tool for communicating with many people, and I want to be able to show hospitality to people from various countries.
