At the beginning of August, I'm leaving Japan to study at the University of Incarnate Word in Texas. I was very lucky today, because my teacher introduced me to a teacher from San Antonio, Texas. I was anxious about many things, so I wanted to ask her about Texas. I was surprised to hear that the university has two Starbucks, a pool, and a gym. It's much bigger than ours. I'll stay in a room in a dormitory with a kitchen and a living room, as well as three bedrooms. I'll have roommates from other countries, and I hope I'll be able to make friends with them. If I can do that, I'll get good opportunities to speak in English.
The University of the Incarnate Word is in San Antonio, which is a sister city of Kumamoto, so I'll be going there as an exchange student. San Antonio is the third biggest city in Texas, ninth in the US, and a popular tourist destination. The jewel of the city is the River Walk, which meanders through the downtown area, and attracts several million visitors every year. The university is near this area, so I look forward to visiting it.
