To protect human health and ecosystem, we measure harmful chemicals such as persistent organic pollutants and endocrine disrupting chemicals in air, water, soil and biota, and evaluate their environmental and ecological risks through bioassay and field survey. Also, we carry out development of high efficient degradation method of harmful chemicals in water.

Research activeties (2014)

Evaluation of multi-generation toxicity for mysid and daphnia by endocrine disruptors

To assess hazard of endocrine disruptors, we have carried out acute and reproduction experiments of endocrine disruptors such as nonylphenol for mysid and daphnia.

Evaluation of degradation process of harmful chemicals in water by advanced oxidation processes

To reveal degradation rate and process of harmful chemicals by ozone and OH radical, we have carried out degradation experiments by advanced oxidation processes (AOP). In recent years, we address to decompose some persistent PPCPs such as carbamazepine.


Field survey

To reveal negative impact by persistent organic pollutants for an estuarine ecosystem, we have performed monthly field sampling that collect water, sediment and biota samples. POPs in each environmental media are measured, and environmental behavior and bioaccumulation of POPs are analyzed. Additionally, we have carried out investigation on horizontal distribution and quantity of benthic organisms. This study is a joint-study with Dr. Komorita (Assistant Prof.) of our department.
